What do we do?
The solidarity group Mali Muleba helps on a technical, logistical and financial level. In 2009 the appeal "100 times 100" was made for the first time. The factory in Muleba was short of funds and we aimed at finding 100 people in Belgium who wanted to support us with €100 each. The many generous donations allowed us to buy extra glass bottles, which boosted the fruit juice sales in Tanzania. For some years now the municipality of Heusden-Zolder and the Trappist monks in Westmalle have supported Mali. In 2010 pupils and teachers of the Technical High School VTST in Turnhout managed to collect the sum of €5,800. VTST in Turnhout did more than support us financially: during the summers of 2009 and 2010 their stainless steel welder teachers and a retired Alfa Laval manager visited the fruit juice factory in Muleba on their own initiative. They took care of training of the local welder Mahamudu as a stainless steel welder and oversaw the installation of newly supplied machinery. The school is also playing with the idea of having their students create an industrial fruit mixer.
